Bending and vibrato

- It's called a Bend, when you change the pitch of a note. By pushing it either up towards the ceiling, or pulling it down towards the floor. Let me demonstrate. I'm going to take this note on the third string. I'm going to grab it and I'm going to support it with my first and second fingers. And then push it. (slow guitar music) And I've got to keep my finger tight down, firmly on the fret so that it doesn't slide underneath. And slide out from under my finger. Okay, so I can bend to any pitch I want. The most common are the whole step bend. (slow guitar music) Now a way to practice bends, is this, it's called matching pitch. I'm going to play this note, (slow guitar music) but I'm bending to this note, (slow guitar music) on the next string. So what I can do is start with a first note, play the second note, (slow guitar music) and then make sure I match pitch by bending.
