- You can also go up. These are descending but you can do an ascending sort of a thing, and now rather than going index forward roll, index on the forward roll, on the first string with a forward roll, (banjo notes) you're gonna do the backward roll. Middle, index, thumb. Bring the index to end, to end the four note sequence. (banjo notes) So middle, index, thumb, index, middle, index, thumb, index, middle, index, thumb, index. (banjo notes) And you can go (banjo scales) Or you can leapfrog around and jump, rather than going from one (banjo notes) to the next position, you can skip one. (banjo notes) That sort of a thing. Descending, well lets ascend one more time. (banjo notes) If we're going to do some of this leapfroging thing, lets do it in the descending way from the 17th fret. (banjo notes) Sorry.
