Adding a second oscillator: Tuning

Adding a second oscillator: Tuning

(tones sound) - [Instructor] In this chapter, we're going to at adding a second oscillator to your small modular or semi modular system. We're going to look at classic analog design, a classic digital design and also a so-called complex oscillator, which is inspired by the Ookla approach to synthesis as opposed to the Moog approach that many semi modular synthesizers take. But first, in this movie, we're going to talk about the general things you need to go through to patch a second oscillator, or a third, or a fourth, into your system. Now the first thing you want to do, after you first power it up, is to make sure everything is playing middle C to begin with. You want to make sure that you've got a good tuning reference. I'm going to press middle C on my controller keyboard, (synthesizer clicks) And hear that strange low clicking coming out of my synthesizer? That's because I haven't initialized the Moog yet, either. So in this particular case, with the Moog Mother-32, it wakes up…
