Writing from a title/lyrical hook

- When it comes to writing from a title or a lyrical hook, just coming up with a great title or a lyrical hook is a triumph in and of itself. That being said, if you're going to write using that methodology, here are a couple of things to keep in mind. First of all, make sure that the entire lyric leads up to and supports your title and/or your hook. Having a catchy title or hook only works if you build the foundation around it, and what I mean by that is, you've got your hook, but you want to lead into it. Everything that you're writing about and everything that you're doing, is pointing in the direction of that ultimate delivery. Essentially what you're doing is creating a tension and a release that's going to carry the listener along. It's very similar to the punchline of a joke, so you've got the setup, and then you've got the delivery of the actual punchline.
