Writing based on a general concept
- When you're writing based on a general idea and a concept, let's say your life experience or a song concept presents itself to you and needs to be written about, there's some things you really need to keep in mind that will help refine that process. One of the first things to think about is you really wanna capture the emotion of this idea. And what I mean by that is, you know, an idea can just be theoretical, but it's important that it not just be theory. You really want it to be the whole emotional sort of weight of this idea. Again, because you're trying to reach people and connect to people with your songs. Secondly, immerse yourself in that feeling and tell the story. You know, it's one thing to sort of think about the idea. It's another thing to really let yourself sort of swim around in it and really kind of get to the place where you're telling that entire story. Something to keep in mind always when you're writing a song is that you are the only person that knows the story…
