- Another thing to keep in mind when it comes to co-writing is that you really want to make a plan on how both you and your collaborator are going to promote the song. Here's a little news flash. Collaboration does not end when you finish the song. There should be subsequent discussions about demo costs, pitch opportunities and any one of a number of other details. Collaboration is much more than just the co-write, it's really a joint business partnership, and this is something that you need to keep in mind, especially if you're early in the game as a prospective co-writer. Something to keep in mind, along with the fact that you and your collaborator are going to be making this effort together, is that you need to think about ways to make yourself an attractive co-writer.
