Skill Level Beginner
- Hi, I'm Cliff Goldmacher, and welcome to the do's and don'ts of songwriting collaboration. My first song efforts, first 15 or so songs, were all songs I wrote on my own. I had to wait for all the planets to line up. It was a completely mystical process that I knew very, very little about. These songs almost just kind of just came through me. Then I moved to Nashville, the town of collaboration, and my first couple of co-writes, I really didn't understand what co-writing was about, what that process was about, and so I struggled, and (laughs) I made my collaborators struggle.
This course is all about that process, and we're going to talk about the advantages and disadvantages, there are a few, of collaboration. We're also going to talk about some things you can do to really improve your chances of having a successful collaboration, and some things to avoid to make sure that the process doesn't bog down or become difficult, or even painful. Whether you're a veteran of lots of collaborations, or just getting up the courage to try your first co-write, this course should give you some good things to think about.
So let's get going with the do's and don'ts of song writing collaboration.
