- [Voiceover] My name is Yeuda Ben-Atar, also known as Sidebrain. Welcome to Up and Running with Max for Live. Max for Live is a visual programming language, incorporated into Ableton Live, that allows you to build your own devices like instruments, effects, control devices, and more. In this course, I'll run you through the devices that come with Max for Live Essentials, which is available as a free download for Ableton Suite users.
We'll start with the Buffer Shuffler and Convolution Reverb. Then, we'll check out the LFO and Envelope Follower devices. We'll dig into the drum synths and the Mono Sequencer. Next, I'll show you how to download some of my favorite, third party, free Max for Live devices. Then, we'll see how to use Ableton Live as a VJ software by playing video in Live's session view.
And finally, I'll get you started learning to program your own devices, and then together, we'll program a device that will turn a PlayStation 3 controller into a MIDI controller. (slow electronic music) If you're ready, let's get up and running with Max for Live.
