Reddit is a very powerful social site, and unlike a bookmarking site like Digg, ranking isn't determined as much by your social influence, but by submission that the community really wants. A word of warning, when you use Reddit, one of the things that you might have to be prepared for is some possible objectionable content. Especially in sub-reddits. The content changes frequently, and you can never tell what might pop up that might not be on the right side of your moral compass.
