Removing unwanted background noise

- [Voiceover] Another common problem you'll run into is unwanted background noise in your recordings. I've opened up the file called background_hum.wav. This is a recording of a tambourine. Let's listen and you'll immediately notice the problem we're having. (tambourine music with background hum) So almost immediately after this recording starts a background hum kicks in. To try to fix this, I'm going to show you an effect called the noise removal effect. This is an effect that works in two parts. First, you identify the sound you want to get rid of. Then Audacity does its best to remove those frequencies from your recording. So the first step is to capture a noise profile. To do this you need a couple of seconds of the background noise on its own without any of the sound you want to keep on top of it. Fortunately, in this example, I've a couple of seconds at the end of the recording without any tambourine. So I'll just go ahead and make a selection. In your own recordings, you might…
