The power of your sketchbook
- [Instructor] Sketching is so important to your development. Nowadays everyone has access to digital sketching programs and software. Although it's super convenient putting in the work with traditional pen and paper will help you gain more confidence in your abilities to design and visualize. Let's revisit the coffee label I designed for Mostra, which was 99% drawn traditionally with pen and ink. I started this design not with pencil but with a light marker underlay. I then drew directly on top of the marker with pen. Being able to go into a sketch using just a pen is not magic but a skill developed with a lot of practice and mileage. I rehearsed this drawing quite a few times, so when it came to the final it was about muscle memory and control. Speed and accuracy was achieved over time via practice and studying my sketchbook.
