- As we prepare our file for our project, there are a number of settings that we want to look at before we get started, and get into the design process. One of those is under options, and then if we go to project preferences, and if we go to this reference levels, select that. So this is a very important piece of your project, and depending on how you like to design or how you want to set up your project. You will want to coordinate this part of your project with potentially the actual elevation that your project is sitting at. And, why you want to do this is that you can gather some critical information from the project, while your working on it. It's specifically if your doing height calculations, or slope calculations you might want to have this set to the actual projects height or elevation and you'll most likely get that from your survey.
