Solution: Build new data

So were you able to build a file Geodatabase, that contains a feature data set called vineyards, that shares the same projection as public parcels? Here's how I would do it. I'd go to catalog, and find the folder that I'm interested in. In this case, parcels public. I'll right click on that folder and choose new. File, Geodatabase. In this case, I'm going to call it Napa, and now I'm going to create a feature dataset, by right clicking on the new Geodatabase I just created and choosing New, Feature Dataset. In this case I'm calling it vineyards. I'll choose next. And in this case, notice I have some, already pre-populated information. Looks like this is State playing Michigan South. I don't want that, what I'm interested in, is the layer, that's already in the table of contents. In fact here it is layers, and there it is state playing California. Choose, next, next, and finish.
