Join Adam Wilbert for an in-depth discussion in this video Getting multiple looks with the Viewer window, part of ArcGIS Essential Training.
- Just like with the overview and magnifier windows,…the viewer window allows you to see…different portions of your map at once.…The viewer window provides an entirely separate…and fully functional view window…with its own set of pan and zoom controls,…for viewing two different areas of the map at the same time.…We can get to it from the windows menu…and by choosing viewer here.…The viewer window is laid out just like the…magnification window, except that the zoom, pan, full extent…and zoom in and out buttons are now active.…I can use these to move to different portions of my map.…For instance, I'm going to go ahead…and zoom into the Washington D.C. and New York area.…
Notice that as I drag out this box…with my magnifying glass, that I get…a similar box in the main map window.…The same thing happens if I try…and zoom in here in the main map.…You'll see that if I drag a box out here…in the main map window, I get a similar box over…in the view window showing me the same extent.…Now I can view the map in…two different scales at the same time.…
