What's new in Photos for iPadOS

- [LECTURER] When we talk about what's new on the iPad for photos, we're talking about a much different situation than with photos for macOS Catalina. iPadOS which is what you're looking at right now. We're looking at an iPad mini-5 running iPadOS supports a whole new photos. I mean it is really nice. And one of the things that I like about it is that it mirrors more or less what's going on with photos on the Mac. So if you learn one, you're really learning the other as well. In those up at the top, we have the different settings here like we have on the Mac. So we've got, you know, the days mode, all photos. Again, this is using its intelligence to, you know, build dynamic-looking presentation. So we're not just having to look at our photos like this anymore, like we've used to look at them with rectangles and so forth. We can have a more dynamic presentation of our images. And we have the years and the months as well, just like we have on the Mac. So that part is really excellent. Now when we edit a photo. I'll just tapping on it there to open it up. And we'll go to edit mode up here in the upper right-hand corner. We have the tools more or less not exactly the same but very close to what we have on the Mac and this is wonderful. So we have our adjustments on the right side, in the right here, I'll go through them here in a second. And then on the left side we have, you know, the adjustment selector, the filters selector. I'll just tap on that right there. And of course, the cropping tool with all the goodies that come with that. So we have all of that on the left side. And then when we go to the tools, check this out. So we have auto, exposure, brilliant, highlights, shadows, contrast, brightness, black-point, saturation and vibrance, warmth, tint, sharpness, definition, right. We never had any of these on the iPad before in photos. Noise reduction and vignette. And you'll notice that when a tool has been used, you can see the little half-yellow line around the circle there. And what that means is that we get to add how much of the tool that we want. So if we want a lot of vignette, we can do that. And the yellow line goes around the circle. You want just a little vignette, then you get less of it. So you have this indicator, it's almost like a fade control. Let's look at warmth here. So you see that we have a lot of warmth right there, and you get the 89, and you get almost the complete circle. And then, as you back off warmth. Isn't that cool? That's really nice, I really like that a lot. So we'll come back to somewhere like that. So the tools are fabulous. Now, we have the three docks up at the top next to done, I'm just going to tap on that. So you can see what we have in the options menu here. And we can use mark-up, which I'm really going to talk a lot about because it is so cool here on the iPad. And it even works with the Mac, so you can use the iPad as a tablet for marking up things on the Mac. So we have that. And then of course, you know, whatever plugins work great with this application. I'll go ahead and tap on that again. We'll go ahead and back out of this. So photos on the iPad running iPadOS is a whole new thing. It's a very exciting thing. And because it interacts so well with the Mac. For instance, this image now would be saved if I was connected via iCloud to my Mac, and my iPhone, and everywhere else, the changes that I've made. Because it works so well, I felt like we really needed to integrate the iPad into this discussion about photos. Because on the iPad now, it is a full-fledged citizen as it is on the Mac, and they work great together. And I look forward to showing you how that all works.
