The System Photo Library is the heart of your Photos environment. It contains all of your images and the work that you've done to them. In this video, Derrick provides more information about the System Photos Library in Photos for macOS, plus tips for managing it.
- [Narrator] The System Photo Library…is your most important library…and primailry because it's the one…that's connected to iCloud.…You can only have one library at a time…connected to iCloud and…the System Photo Library, that is it.…Now the way that you know that…is by going up to photos, preferences.…You're then checking a library location here.…And you can see that we have a library.…Our exercise files library is in pictures.…And we know that it is a System Photo Library…because this is grayed out.…
(laughs)…If it weren't grayed out,…then that means another library is.…In this case, we know this is it, right?…So this is the library that will show up on our iPads…and our iPhones and other Macs…that are logged into the iCloud account.…Now if I wanted to see where that is,…we have the breadcrumbs right here.…But I can also just do show and finder…and it'll bring it forth right there.…Just like that, right?…That's pretty cool.…So that is the system photo library.…If you have a different library open…and you want to make it the system photo library,…
