Set up Smart Albums

- [Male Narrator] I set up a handful of Smart Albums right here and they're just really terrific. I have to say, I like these a lot. And essentially what they are, they're albums, but they have conditions attached to them. Any photo in your library that falls within those conditions, that meets those conditions then is automatically included in the album. So, for instance, RAW Files right here. These are all RAW files that are in our library. We are in the RAW Files Smart Album. Now, if you wanted to see what that looks like, I'm going to hold down the control key, I'm going to click, and we're going to edit that Smart Album and you can see. So, here's the name and then here's the condition. Photo, right? We have all these choices right here, but we're going to choose photo is and then we choose RAW right here, 25 items match. Now, if we had photo is something else, let's say favorite, we have six items. Of course, we'd want to change that right up here. But we're going to stick with photo is RAW right there, okay. And then we click okay and there we go. Now, you notice I have a couple Smart Albums for two star images. And you might be thinking to yourself, oh Derrick, there aren't star ratings in photos, and you're absolutely correct. But if you look at the Smart Album, you'll see how I did it. So, I'm going to hold down the control key right here, we're going to edit Smart Album, and what I did was I assigned keywords to these photos. The keyword is three stars, okay? By doing that then I could sort and create Smart Albums for my three star images. Want to take a look at one of these? So, lets go to info, there is our keyword right there, three stars, alrighty? Now, if you're interested in using this system, in my previous training for photos, photos from macOS Mojave, I have a couple of movies that really explain in detail how to do this. Go back and check those out. What happens in those movies works perfectly well with Catalina, alrighty? Okay. Let's create a Smart Album right now. Let's do a Smart Album for, well, I dunno. Let's just decide what we want to do here. So, we'll go create a new Smart Album and before we name it, let's figure out what we want to do. And let's say Aperture is at 2.8. We'll call this the f/2.8 Album and we have six items that match. So, we'll click OK. All of these shots were recorded at f/2.8. Let's test it. We'll go right here to info and there it is, f/2.8 right there. So, you can create a Smart Album for practically any condition that you want and when you hold down control again on this, let's edit it. And if you want, you can add conditions. So, lets say photo is RAW. Okay, so we have to match all of the conditions, you can match any or all, but we're going to do all which means it has to meet them both. Click OK. And these are all RAW files as well. Alrighty? So, these are very powerful. They're easy. You can edit them. And they're yet another way to help organize your album.
