You can copy the adjustments from one image and apply them all to another with a simple keyboard stroke. In this video, Derrick shows how to copy and paste adjustments in editing mode in Photos for macOS High Sierra.
- [Instructor] Copy and past adjustments are a nifty little editing trick, that will save you real time, especially when you're working on a series of images. Let me show you how that works. Now I want to show you another little trick right now, I'm going to go up to view, and we're going to do show thumbnails, right there. And that's because we're working on this series of Molly, and we're doing copy and paste adjustments, and in this case, having the thumbnails down here, I think is very helpful. So I'm going to go ahead and go to edit mode, so just click on edit right there.
And let's apply a vignette, to this shot, an this is just by way of example. We could do a number of adjustments here, vignette, and let's say three or four other things, and the technique still works. Alright, now I've done that, so then I go up to image, and I go to copy adjustments. And you'll see that there's a shortcut for this, which is very handy. Now I can just go to the next image, and I can do that a number of ways, I can click down here on the thumbnail, and then go to paste adjustments.
Or I can hit the arrow key, to go to the next image, and paste adjustments. Just like that. And as I said, we could have three or four adjustments made and copy all of them, and then paste them to the next shot. So if you're doing that, I suggest turning on the thumbnails down here, I think it's very handy, so you know where you are in the sequence. And then possibly using the keyboard shortcuts, and you can whip through a batch of images pretty fast, without having to start over on each shot with your editing.
If they're exposed under similar lighting, and similar composition, copy and paste adjustment, save yourself some time, feel smart, (laughs). Alright, so now I'm going to go ahead and take these off, and the way that I can do that, of course, is go back to vignette, and then, just hit that, key right there. There we go, again we're going to, hit the remove key, and do that one more time, and reset this last one, and just bring us back to where we were.
I think we got it. It's funny, this thumbnail down here did not update. There it goes, now it's updating. Alrighty, so that is copy and paste adjustments, as well as show thumbnails, a couple little bonus tips there for you.
