Using Photo Stream as part of an archiving strategy

Using iPhoto or Aperture to tap your Photo Stream and to save the images of the stream is an excellent archiving strategy for the shots that you capture with your iPhone or your iPad. I'm just going to show you how to set that up right now; it's really easy. So, the first step is, of course, to go into Preferences in iPhoto or Aperture. In this case we're going to use iPhoto. Make sure that Photo Stream is enabled and make sure that automatic import is enabled too. Basically, what that does is it tells iPhoto to grab those images off the Photo Stream because remember Photo Stream is the last 1000 images.

So, you're telling iPhoto to grab images off your Photo Stream, save them on here, so even the ones that are rolled off your Photo Stream eventually will be saved in your iPhoto Library.
