Menus
- [Instructor] Chances are, you already know what a menu is, but I'll tell you anyway. A menu provides a list of options on a temporary surface, usually a drop down. We've all used software where there's too many options in the menus. It doesn't make for a pleasant experience. So our goal is to keep our menus small, contextual, and completely visible without scrolling, is usually preferred. Since they demand your attention while open, the menu should be the top most element that is closest to your face on the page. Menus should always appear next to or in front of the element that generated it. For example, if a right click makes a menu appear, that menu should show up where you click. It's best not to change the options in a menu because some actions are unavailable. It's better to gray them out, so the user gets accommodated to what's available in the menu.
