Working with Java vs. C++: Building a Game App with the Android SDK

When you’re building an Android app with the Android SDK, you have a choice as to whether to program with just Java, or with a combination of Java and C or C++. There are some good reasons to consider using the C-based languages, having to do with performance and extensibility. Your core app will still be Java-based, but by using the Native Development Kit, or NDK, you can implement specific pieces of your application with native code. The obvious tradeoff is that you have to learn or already know another programming language, and you have to understand how to integrate your Java-based app with C-based components.
