Using Switch Access
- [Instructor] Switch Access is the accessibility service that communicates with Switch devices. A switch device has a very different type of input. It replaces the touch screen, the mouse, and the keyboard. A switch device is typically a one or a few more button device that allows people with motor impairment to use software applications. A famous example was the theoretical physicist, Stephen Hawking, who had a severe mobility impairment caused by a motor-neuron disease. Throughout his life, he was able to communicate through the use of a switch device that would be activated by the movement of his cheek. On Android, Switch Access is the service used to interface with a switch device. It ships by default with TalkBack, so if you install TalkBack on your Android, you will also have Switch Access available.
