Setting up and using an action file
- An action file is the first stop for any paper entering your space. Every paper that does not belong in the trash or shredder has a place in the action file. This file system should be placed near where you enter with papers, if at all possible. As soon as you enter with papers, you can quickly sort them into your action file to be dealt with later. The action file is specifically a file system for papers supporting your to-do list, or a temporary storage location for information that needs to be scanned or stored. Items such as RSVP cards, paperwork to complete, and other task related documents belong in the action file. There are a number of ways you can set up an action file, based on your personality and needs. One simple action file I recommend is a Small hanging file box, approximately 12" x 5" by 9.5" and Up to 10 hanging file folders with tabs.
