When you add a fragment to an activity programmatically, you have an opportunity to pass data to the fragment as arguments. You do this with the fragment’s setArguments() method. setArguments() receives a bundle as a an argument. A bundle is a map of key-value pairs, where the key is a string, and the value can be a String, a primitive type such as a number or boolean, arrays of such types, and anything that implements Android’s parcelable interface.
- [Narrator] When you add a fragment…to an activity programmatically, you have…an opportunity to pass data to the fragment as arguments.…You do this with the fragment's set arguments method,…which accepts a bundle object.…A bundle is a map of key value pairs,…where the key is a string, and the value can be a string,…a primitive type, like a number, or a Boolean,…arrays of such types, and anything that…implements an interface named parcelable.…I'll demonstrate this in the project pass arguments.…
In this version of my project,…I'm adding a fragment to my activity…with some Java code when the user touches a button.…In order to pass an argument, you need a string key,…and that key typically is defined in the fragment itself.…It has to be available both to the fragment,…and to anything in the application…that's passing the argument in.…I'm going to make a public field here,…with public, static, final, string,…and I'll name this message underscore key.…
The value can be anything, and I'll name it…the same, but in lowercase.…
