- [Instructor] I've provided a set of exercise files to accompany this course. You can see that I've copied my exercise files folder to the desktop, but you can place it anywhere on your computer that you like. Let's take a look inside. At the top level of the folder, you can see that there are two folders inside, one named FCM_start and the other named FCM_finished. There's also text file name FCM_REST. Let's open that first.
I'm going to use this file to make it easy to store my FCM token and API key along with some shell commands that make it easy to try out the REST API later in the course. You can use this file to store your app token and server API key as well. Note that your token and key will be different than mine. The start version of the folder contains the starting point of the code for this course. The finished version of the folder contains the finished code for the app that we will be building. During the course, I'll be using the start version of the code to demonstrate each example as I build towards the finished app.
For this reason, I suggest that you follow the videos in this course in their recorded order, though it's not strictly required. You can of course use these exercise files however you want. If you want to use the start version of the code to work along with me towards the finished version, well that's great. If you want to fire up the finished version of the code and poke around in the debugger or try making your own changes, well that's great too. In either case, copy the exercise files folder to where you want to on your system, and you're ready to go.
