- [Instructor] It's spring in the northern hemisphere. Flowers are blooming, the weather is getting warmer, and as always, the next version of Android is just around the corner. Every year around this time, developers get an introduction to upcoming changes in their favorite mobile operating system. Android developers have to keep up with these releases, either by using new APIs and features or by making important changes to keep their apps running smoothly. The next version of Android is currently known as Android Q, and we know that it will be numbered as Android 10. As of this recording, we don't know yet what sweet dessert that starts with the letter Q will be used as the version name, or even whether Google will continue to use the sweet dessert naming pattern. But we do know that there are many new features that you can take advantage of to make your apps work even better on Android devices. And we also know that there will be visible and functional changes to the user interface that could affect some apps' functionality. In this short course, I'll offer a tour of these changes to help you make your plans for the release of the next version of Android.
