Add game controls and info display

Add game controls and info display: Building a Game App with the Android SDK
Add game controls and info display: Building a Game App with the Android SDK

After adding the background, my next step is to add game controls to the user interface. I’ll be creating a toolbar on the bottom of the screen with a variety of button and textview widgets to share information with the user and let them control the game’s functionality. First I’ll change the root element in the activity layout from the new ConstraintLayout that was added in Android Studio 2.2, to the more venerable RelativeLayout. ConstraintLayout is great for building business applications, but I haven’t seen it much for the sort of graphically focused app I’m building.
