Why use AWS as a backup platform

- [Instructor] One of the things that I'm going to be talking about throughout this course is the concept of backing your data up to the cloud. Now, for the purposes of this course, I'm going to be using the Amazon cloud, or AWS as it's often called. But the real question is why is it so important? Why do you need to back your data up to the cloud? Well, when you back your data up to the cloud, what you're really doing is you're protecting that data against a data center-level data loss event. Now, what do I mean by that? Well, imagine for a moment that your data center gets destroyed by a fire or a flood or a tornado, or some other natural disaster. In that type of situation, all of the data that's stored within your data center could potentially be destroyed. Backing your data up to the cloud allows you to have a copy of the data that exists offsite. So that way if your data center gets destroyed, you have a way of…
