What you should know

- [Narrator] Using AWS network, compute, database, and storage services, you can create highly available, resilient IT services for your customer and internal needs. To derive the most value from this course, it is useful to have an awareness of AWS Virtual Private Cloud, or VPC. An understanding of EC2 server virtualization and security groups is useful, as is some exposure to Linux commands. These topics are covered in both my networking and Enterprise Security offerings in the course library. This course will help you develop an appreciation of what's possible within AWS. You'll gain an appreciation for how rich the AWS palette of tools is. Load balancing and auto-scaling are two pillars of high availability for which you will develop a particular fondness. At the end, you'll walk away with a strong understanding of the networking, compute, database, and storage service offerings you can use to achieve your availability goals. Note that I will be occasionally using the AWS command line interface, or CLI, throughout this course. If you aren't familiar with it, I've put together a couple of short videos on how to get started on both Mac and Windows. If you're already comfortable with the CLI and establishing named profiles, feel free to jump straight into the foundations of high availability. All right, let's go.
