Get started with Amazon Lightsail. Learn how to leverage Lightsail to simplify the process of creating and using virtual private servers.
- [Sharif] Hi, I'm Sharif Nijim, and I'd like to welcome you to this short course on Amazon Lightsail. Amazon Web Services, or AWS, is the global leader in cloud computing, and provides a wide variety of IT services. AWS offers an incredibly robust ecosystem of IT products. Some of the world's most scalable, resilient systems are built on AWS. That said, the learning curve to getting something running in AWS is pretty steep. Sometimes, all folks really want is an application or a simple server, without the headache of managing infrastructure.
To shorten the path to productivity, AWS offers a product called Lightsail. Lightsail allows you to create and use virtual private servers with just a couple of clicks. Lightsail billing is similarly straightforward. Come along as we explore virtual private servers in Lightsail, the kinds of servers you can create in Lightsail, operational metrics for Lightsail servers, data protection in Lightsail, how you can use key pairs to segment access to different Lightsail servers, and how you can configure Lightsail to interact with the rest of the AWS ecosystem.
To show you how approachable and easy it is to use Lightsail, we'll fire up a Wordpress site in a matter of minutes. This course is designed to help you get up and running in Lightsail as quickly as possible. Let's do it.
