From the course: AWS for DevOps: Monitoring, Metrics, and Logging

Welcome

- [Lynn] Hi, and welcome to AWS for DevOps: Monitoring, Metrics, and Logging. I'm Lynn Langit. As we start to think about this course, I want to define what I mean by DevOps. It's really simple, it's doing those activities which keep your systems running. In this case, running in the Amazon Cloud. A core part of that is understanding how to use Amazon's included monitoring tools for services and for applications. We're going to be looking at those in great depth in this course. We're also going to draw from my real world experience and look at third party monitoring tools and services that I've used with customers. These are going to include services like New Relic and Data Dog. We're also going to look at reasons for monitoring, and we're going to use AWS scripting tools such as the AWS CLI as well as programmatically monitoring using the AWS SDK. We have a lot to do, so let's get started.
