User-defined cost allocation tags

- [Instructor] User-defined tags are defined, created, and applied by the user. To activate the user-defined tags, I'm logged into the AWS console. I'll click on the display name on the upper right hand corner, and click on my billing dashboard. On the left navigation pane, I'll click on cost allocation tags. In order for tags to appear on your billing reports, you must activate them. I'm going to select the required tags, in this case cost center and department, and click on activate. I'll click on activate again. The message on screen confirms that the tags have been activated. AWS recommends using the AWS tag editor to create and apply user-defined tags. It provides a central, unified way to create and manage user-defined tags. User-defined tags have a few more restrictions compared to AWS generated tags. Tags are case sensitive, the maximum character length for the tag key and value is 128 and 256 Unicode characters. A maximum of 50 tags can be applied per resource. A maximum of…
