- [Instructor] Now that we have auto-scaling all set up, let's see how important health checks are. As a refresher, this is our current configuration with three instances behind an auto-scaling group. The real question is what happens when one of these instances fails. Let's go into the console and find out. Here I am at the auto-scaling group's overview page. Let's take a look at the auto-scaling group we've set up. Specifically, it's important to note that we have three instances running with a desired capacity set to three. I'm going to shrink the status column a bit so that we can see the max capacity of 12. Now, let's take a peek at the instances under instance management. Here, we can see the instance IDs of each instance in our auto-scaling group. Let's simulate a failure by terminating the instance in availability zone C. To do so, I click on the instance ID. This opens the details for that instance in a new…
