Setting up Auto Scaling: Part 1
- [Instructor] Now that we have created an AMI for our web server, we can set up auto scaling to best take advantage of the Clouds elastic nature. Auto scaling has two primary components to it, a launch configuration which defines what to scale and auto scaling groups which define how to scale, the auto scaling services found in the console under the EC2 service. So I'll go back into EC2 and the auto scaling area is over here on the left hand menu under auto scaling. Start with a launch configuration, click launch configurations and since I don't have any set up yet, I'll click create launch configuration. This is where I specify what to launch. And what I want to launch are the web tier server instances and since I've already created an AMI, I can go to my AMIs and choose that one. I continue on with the launch configuration by selecting an instance type. I'm going to stick with the free t2 micro instance. I can move on…
