Set up a probation warning alert
- Amazon requires that you maintain a healthy relationship with the various organizations you'll be sending email to, such as Google's Gmail service and Microsoft's Office 365 email service. Two of the metrics you'll need to monitor is your bounce rate and your complaint rate. An email bounce is when an outgoing email server such as SES, tries to deliver a message to another email server and that receiving email server returns an error message or for some reason is unable to accept your incoming email at that time. Amazon asks that you keep your bounce rate at 2% or less. If you exceed a 5% bounce rate, your SES account will be placed under review. When your account is under review, you will receive an email from Amazon that'll ask you to send in documentation that explains why you have a high rate of bounced messages and what systems you have in place for dealing with these bounced messages and how you plan on lowering your bounce rate.
