Planning for recovery
- There's something you want to do before you need to do it, and that is plan for recovery. In other words, you don't want to wait until you need to recover things to plan for recovery. If you do that, you're going to find yourself in a stressful state. You're going to find yourself unprepared. You're not going to know how to do it. I've actually seen scenarios where people implemented database systems in AWS, and when they implemented it, they didn't even research at all how backups are being made, what they could do to enhance the way backups are made, how to recover from the backups, none of that. And so the reality is that they found themselves in a difficult situation when they had to recover because they actually had to learn it all during the recovery process.
