- [Instructor] As you prepare to rehost an application, it's extremely important to keep performance in mind. Virtual machines will almost always perform differently in the cloud than they do on premises. Even if you allocate that virtual machine with the same amount of memory and the same CPU resources as the virtual machine had on premises. And while this may sound a little bit counterintuitive, there are actually several different reasons for this difference in performance. So I'll talk about a few of those. But before I begin explaining the reasons why a virtual machine might perform differently in the cloud than it does on premises, I want to be sure and point out that it's extremely important to take a performance benchmark of your virtual machines before you begin rehosting them in the cloud.
