Ledger databases (QLDB)
- The final specific kind of database I want to talk about in this chapter is a ledger database. Now, this is a very special kind of database. Because this is used in order to be able to track data that's entered in the database, changes made to that data, and have it be done in such a way that no one could ever deny the activities that have taken place in relation to that data. In AWS, the ledger database solution is called the Quantum Ledger Database or QLDB. And it is a database that's used to track ledger items. So if you think of a ledger, what do you usually think of? Financial tracking, right? And it is often used in financial tracking. But the big thing is that it assists in providing compliance. First of all, there's transparency. It is tracked, not only that the data was changed, but who changed it. It's immutable. There is a signature that goes along with every entry. That proves Who did that.…
