Launching a new EC2 instance
- [Instructor] I'm going to demonstrate a few of the concepts we've covered thus far by launching a new EC2 instance. I'll eventually use this EC2 instance to play the role of a web server and a web application. So from the console, we can navigate to the EC2 Service. We can then choose instances, from the left-hand menu. We see we don't have any instances launched yet, so I can use this big blue button, launch instance. The first thing it's asking me when launching an instance, is to choose the Amazon Machine Image, or AMI. And I'm going to use the Amazon Linux AMI in the Quick Start tab. The Amazon Linux AMI is a supported and maintained Linux Image provided by Amazon Web Services. It includes packages and configurations that provide tight integration with Amazon Web Services, and is designed to provide a stable, secure, and high performance execution environment for applications running on EC2.
