- [Instructor] Even though replatforming is a viable and accepted method for moving an application to the cloud, in my opinion replatforming should be the exception, not the rule. Generally speaking you wouldn't go looking for applications to replatform. Replatforming tends to be complex, it can be expensive, and it can be time consuming and sometimes even problematic. So it's best to avoid replatforming if you can. Replatforming should be the result of a business or a technical need. It shouldn't be a quest to go looking for applications to replatform. Generally there are other easier migration techniques that you should be using. Now I'm not trying to suggest that you should never ever replatform an application. Replatforming definitely has its place. So with that said, let's take a look at a few situations in which replatforming might be beneficial.
