- [Instructor] Amazon announced Firecracker at re:Invent 2018. It's an open-source virtual machine monitor that is purpose-built for creating and managing secure multi-tenant container and function-based services. It's the foundation of technology that is relevant for developers who want to build container orchestration and serverless platforms. Hi, I'm Arun Gupta. I'm a developer and been involved in the Firecracker community since inception. In this course, I'll explain what is Firecracker, its design principles, and basic functionality.
I'll also discuss how Firecracker can be used to provision containers in a container orchestrator. We'll talk about how Firecracker is used by AWS Lambda and AWS Fargate to gain efficiency and better isolation. Finally, you'll learn how to get started with Firecracker, create your own microVM, and query it using the REST API. We got a lot to cover, so if you're ready to learn the basics of Firecracker and get started with it, then come join me in my LinkedIn Learning course for a first look at AWS Firecracker.
