Designing for compliance
- When it comes to compliance, planning, and design, the reason we do it is because it is imposed upon us. It's either imposed upon us by government organizations and regulatory agencies, or it's imposed upon us by internal organizational policies. Now by the word imposed, I don't necessarily mean, that we don't want to do it. I simply mean that we have to do it. So we want to make sure we understand that compliance is not an option, regardless of its base in government regulations or corporate policies. Wherever it comes from, it's not an option. It's something we have to do, hence the term comply. We don't really say, "are you in compliance with an option?" We usually say, "Are you in compliance with a regulation?" Right? So AWS has really done a good job of helping you understand how to implement systems that do meet compliance requirements of various types.
