Deploying reserved instances

- [Instructor] One way to save money when it comes to virtual machines or databases running in the cloud is to use reserved instances. A reserved instance configuration means that you are committing to the longterm usage of those compute services, whether it's virtual machines or databases, and you're doing so at a discount. Let's see if that's true. So here I've navigated to calculator.aws. Every public cloud provider has some type of pricing calculator tool available to do what we're about to do here. So I'm going to click create estimate and I'm interested in let's say in EC2 instances or virtual machines. So under Amazon EC2, I will click configure. I have to select the region geographically where I want the pricing estimate. Let's say U.S. East. Then I'll change the region of that location. A quick estimate will be just fine.
