Database access languages
- Already throughout this chapter, several times I've hinted at this thing called data access the language or SQL or some language use to access your data. Right? Well, that's what we want to talk about in this episode. We're going to talk about available access languages in general, and then some specifics will come later on about SQL, the most popular of all of these data access languages. When it comes to access languages, you really have two categories, standard and proprietary. So standard languages means that there's some organization out there that develops a specification for what the language should look like. For example, you've heard of SQL, that is a standard defined by the ANSI organization, the American National Standards Institute. And we'll talk more about SQL later on.
