Harnessing the power of AWS Lambdas from your Lex bot opens up a world of possibilities. Lambdas can do almost anything in server-side development including accessing other AWS services. A Lambda can read data from a database and write as well. If your bot calls a Lambda there is just about nothing it can't do.
- [Instructor] Okay, so we have our bot set up … for booking a trip. … It handles booking a car and a hotel, … but we don't have any lambda to call … for the initialization, validation, … or for in the fulfillment, but we want to set those up. … So all we have to do is use the blueprint and lambda, … so let's go over to our services. … We can type lambda, and click on the lambda, … and we don't have any functions, … so it helps us to get started … by just having this button called create function. … We're going to create ours from a blueprint, … so I'm going to do a search in the blueprint for Lex, … and see what comes up. … We have several, so I'm going to add Python, … but I happen to spy that it's right there … in front of me, anyway. … But I'm going to click on this Python blueprint, … and we'll configure it now. … We can name the function whatever we want. … I'll name mine Trip lambda, and if we have an existing role … we can create it, or we can create a new role. … That's no problem. …
