- [Instructor] CloudWatch is the monitoring service that's embedded with all AWS services. Even brand new services use CloudWatch as a monitoring tool with metrics. This allows you to monitor what you built your resources, and anything in your stack in near real time. CloudWatch uses metrics and metrics are defined as different components of each service. So for example, in the EC2 instance, might be networking, or CPU utilization. So we can set alarms and alerts to react to any changes in our resources. As it monitors it stores its results in CloudWatch logs. And we can go to the console and view graphs and statistics to figure out what's going on with our particular resources that we're monitoring. It's probably more beneficial to be setting alarms and having some automation carry out a task to solve the issue if alarms fire, but we can certainly do some nice analysis using the console.
