Cloud service level agreements

- [Instructor] Using cloud computing means using one or more services in the cloud, each of which has its own service-level agreement. A service-level agreement is a contract between a service provider, such as a cloud provider, and a consumer, such as a cloud tenant. The service-level agreement or SLA will include many details such as who owns data. So the SLA might stipulate that the cloud tenant owns any data that might be stored in the cloud. But of course, depending on where that data is replicated geographically, that data which resides in a physical data center somewhere might be subject to specific laws. Then there is the guaranteed level of service. This is a big part of an SLA. As an example, we might have 99.99% uptime guaranteed for a given cloud service, such as running virtual machines.
