Cloud budgeting
- [Instructor] When we're defining cloud budgets and trying to forecast how much we're going to spend over the next six months or the next year or maybe just the next week, it's a little different in the cloud because we've got variables in storage, in compute, and usage to keep in mind. On prem we didn't have that problem. We ordered some resources, and sure we might've been using virtualization, but we had limits. So a cloud budget has to be designed with that variability in mind, that your compute can get larger and smaller. Your storage can get larger and smaller. You might monitor a little more at certain times of the day. You might utilize services which start and stop at certain times. The cost decrease with your application will be found with workload efficiencies. Can the hosted application and the compute instances be smaller at certain points of the day? Can the database be designed to have auto-scaling…
