CPU usage alarm
- [Instructor] EC2 instances can be monitored for several metrics, such as CPU utilization, network utilization, and disk reads and writes. Let's see how to create a CloudWatch alarm for CPU utilization. I'm here at the CloudWatch Management Console. I'll first navigate to the Alarms section on the left navigation pane and then click the Create Alarm button. First we need to select a metric. Click on the Select metric button. The options you see here will depend on the services being used in your AWS account. If you do not have an EC2 instance running, you will not see the EC2 option. Also keep in mind that after you launch an EC2 instance it can take up to a few minutes for the EC2 metrics to show here. I'll select the EC2 option and then click the dimension Per-Instance Metrics.
