- [Instructor] The Auto Scaling service AWS provides is one that really underscores the elastic nature of the cloud, and one that will benefit many cloud-based system architectures. Remember when I first talked about understanding elasticity and I used some graphs that demonstrated the waste that is generated by allocating too much capacity? And the issues that can occur with not allocating enough capacity? These are problems that stem from the mismatch between the supply of needed resources and the demand on your system. And almost unavoidable when hosting in traditional non-cloud environments. The auto-scaling service provides a solution for this. If the allocated resources are greater than demand, capacity can be automatically decreased or scaled in to match. When the load or demand increases, so can the capacity.
